ELLA-CS’ biodegradable stent helped the patient leave the hospital after 303 days of hospitalization and return to normal life. More than a year after the stent implantation, the patient is still free of breathing problems.
We are proud to share an exceptional case from Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre, where our biodegradable bronchial stent helped a patient with severe airway stenosis caused by tuberculosis regain her quality of life.
After more than 50 bronchoscopies, 20 attempts at balloon dilation, and failed silicone stent implantations, her condition remained critical. Surgery was considered too risky. The situation changed after the implantation of the ELLA-CS biodegradable stent, which led to a dramatic improvement — the patient was soon discharged from the ICU and is now living without a tracheostomy.
